Responsibilities

The Social Rights Committee specializes in the protection and promotion of social rights in reference to education, health, transportation, housing, and employment to guarantee human rights standards (as sited in HR treaties).

1. Collaborating in drafting the National Plan for protecting and promoting Human Rights in Egypt, preparing proposals and recommendations for the council concerning social rights, and submitting these proposals and recommendations to concerned parties and specialized bodies.

2. Commenting on social Human Rights issues sent for review by the President, Vice-President, the Complaints Committee, or any concerned Human Rights parties or bodies, government or non-government organizations, or an international, regional, or national body.

3. Monitoring the implementation of international treaties and conventions related to social rights.

4. Issuing recommendations, proposals, and commentaries necessary for the effective implementation of these agreements in collaboration with the International Relations Committee.

5. Examining laws connected to social rights and issuing reforms to ensure that these rights are guaranteed in collaboration with the Legislative Committee.

6. Preparing the NCHR reports concerning Human Rights conditions in Egypt.

7. Commenting on reports issued by Egypt, which are addressed to international organizations regarding conventions that Egypt is a member of in collaboration with the International Relations Committee.

8. Raising the awareness of social Human Rights

9. Capacity building through training programs for staff members within the country's institutions related to social Human Rights in collaboration with the Cultural Rights Committee.
